- ➤ Nine Fond du Lac County fire departments will join at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, October 7 to offer free firetruck tours, demonstrations and hands-on safety challenges from 4 to 7 p.m. during Fire Prevention Week, which runs nationally October 5—11, and food trucks will be available. - ➤ Allegiant Airlines has added a non-stop flight from Appleton Airport to Gulf Shores International Airport that offers travelers an easy way to visit Mobile and Pensacola. The airline offers one-way fares as low as $54 if booked by today and if travel occurs by December 24—flights run on Sundays and Thursdays. KFIZ

- ➤ Gas prices in the Fond du Lac area dropped on October 3—stations showed prices between $2.73 and $2.79, and nearby Waupun and Rosendale saw rates as low as $2.71. AAA noted that while the Wisconsin average is $2.80 and the national average is $3.15, a refinery fire in southern California may drive prices up soon. KFIZ

- ➤ A teen driver was involved in a crash every 28 minutes in Wisconsin as inexperience, distractions, and speeding contributed to the accidents — state guidelines urge parents to talk with their kids about safe driving.
