- ➤ ADVOCAP released its 2025 Community Needs Assessment Report on October 14th — the study shows Fond du Lac neighbors have faced rising housing, food, and health costs and report stress from higher expenses and limited service access. The report gathered input from low-income residents, community partners, and ADVOCAP staff and calls for stronger local partnerships to remove these challenges. KFIZ
- ➤ Quilting Legacies will host its 2nd Annual Open House and Vendor Fair on Saturday, October 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 1325 S Main Street—an event featuring 20 local makers, exclusive promotions, demonstrations and giveaways. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ SSM Health donated $175K to support youth programs and facility upgrades at the Boys & Girls Club and Family YMCA in Fond du Lac—$100K will fund a joint capital campaign to expand their shared center while $75K supports specific youth initiatives. FDL Reporter
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On December 12, EAA will host its annual Wright Brothers Memorial Banquet at the EAA Aviation Museum to honor the WWII 100th Bomb Group and remember the mini-series Masters of the Air. Guest speakers include Rebecca Crosby Hutchinson (daughter of navigator Harry Crosby) and Michael Faley, and tickets cost $85 for members and $100 for nonmembers with 350 seats available. KFIZ

- ➤ Envision Greater Fond du Lac is enrolling community members for its Public Office Preparation 101 program held on Nov. 5+12 from 4 to 7 p.m. to teach campaign skills such as fundraising and paperwork with guidance from former state representatives. FDL Reporter
- ➤ Federal officials warned that if the government shutdown continues, Wisconsin's FoodShare and WIC programs will not receive full funding in November, which could affect over 700,000 residents. State officials are monitoring the situation closely — they will provide updates later this month if changes occur. FDL Reporter

- ➤ Senior field hockey player Jikke Biemans of Marian University earned her second CFHC Offensive Player of the Week award by scoring a game-winning overtime goal that helped the team secure its first win over Centre — she now leads the conference with 23 points and 11 goals. - ➤ Marian University men’s golf finished sixth at the NACC Championship with rounds of 318, 323 and 315 as Wyatt Pfeiffer earned All-NACC honors on a two-over-par 74 round — coach Tyler Jones and his staff were named NACC Co-Coaching Staff of the Year while Aurora won with a team score of 877 behind medalist Jackson Hulsey.
