COMMUNITY NEWS

  • SSM Health Fond du Lac Volunteers will host a Collective Goods sale at the SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital lobby concourse at 430 E. Division Street from November 18 to November 21—running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 18, 19, and 20 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 21. The sale will offer hardcover books at 50 to 75 percent off retail with proceeds benefiting patient programs and a scholarship fund.  Envision Greater FDL

CULTURE NEWS

  • SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital now displays artwork from Rock River Intermediate School in its lobby art gallery (located across the gift shop) and invites the public to a free open house on November 24 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. (featuring artists Sarah Senn and Jeni Maly).  Envision Greater FDL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Moraine Park Technical College donated five laptops to the Fond du Lac Amateur Radio Club to boost education and emergency communication training — used for digital demonstrations, emergency preparedness and licensing courses — and the club will strengthen its field day and license testing operations.  FDL Reporter

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Fond du Lac Police Department reminds residents that winter parking rules will start Saturday night at 8 p.m.—vehicles must park on the street side matching the date's even or odd numbering—and regular rules will resume at 8 a.m. each day until March 15.  KFIZ
  • The Fox Valley Workforce Development Board invited local employers to join the youth work experience program—a free initiative that trains youth ages 14–24 for work while covering wages and taxes. Host employers decide if they will hire participants, keep weekly timesheets, and work with career planners as the program continues.  KFIZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • A $20,425 gift from the SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital Auxiliary enabled the emergency room to acquire a new Graham-Field Hausted 5B800ST All Purpose Bariatric Electric Stretcher—designed to improve patient comfort and staff safety with its 800-pound capacity and ergonomic push handles. The equipment meets the growing needs for bariatric patient care and will reduce physical strain on staff during patient transport.  Envision Greater FDL
  • A ThedaCare cancer specialist said liver cancer cases are rising and people can lower their risk by moderating alcohol, maintaining a healthy weight, and getting vaccinated against hepatitis B – advice aimed at curbing increases linked to obesity and viral infections.  Envision Greater FDL

SPORTS NEWS

  • Marian University women's basketball lost 74—67 to Dubuque in their season opener as Dubuque built an early lead and controlled most of the game. The Sabres rallied late to cut the gap to five before Dubuque sealed the win—marking a first close series margin against them.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Marian University men's basketball won its season opener with a 68—67 victory over UW-Superior after scoring 10 unanswered points in the final minutes. The win brings Marian’s season record to 1-0 and ties its all-time series at 3—3 with UW-Superior.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Marian University men's bowling finished fourth at Leatherneck Classic after posting 8,377 pins for a No. 4 seed before being eliminated by Calumet College. They began strong with 5,303 pins in the traditional round while trailing Wichita State by 33 pins and with four bowlers averaging over 200 pins+ showing a promising early performance.  Envision Greater FDL
