- ➤ Santa Claus will visit the Fond du Lac Public Library on Dec. 9 to offer free photos with children—one session is for youth with sensory needs at 4 and 4:30 p.m. and another for all families from 5 to 7 p.m.; registration for both sessions opens on Nov. 25 at 9 a.m. and if you cannot make it on Dec. 9, drop-ins are welcome on Dec. 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. with crafts, games, and a free book from the Fond du Lac Evening Optimists. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, November 16, 2025, a 350-acre marsh fire started in Waushara County after hot exhaust from an ATV ignited dry vegetation; the fire spread quickly due to high winds and led to temporary closures of Highways 49 and 21. Fire crews from Redgranite, MABAS, and the DNR battled the blaze and contained it by 6 p.m. — crews stayed until 7 p.m. to monitor the area while one outbuilding was destroyed. KFIZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fond du Lac Police reminded residents last night that winter parking restrictions were in effect after a light snow forecast on November 17. Vehicles parked after 8 p.m. had to follow rules based on odd or even addresses — a mandate that remains until 8 a.m. daily through March 15. KFIZ
- ➤ Wisconsin law bans leaving a running car unattended with the key in the ignition—cities such as Milwaukee and Madison enforce local fines, so drivers must warm up their vehicles by staying inside or using remote start systems. FDL Reporter
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Appleton resident Joe Toonen was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer in December after he felt pain and numbness in his left arm in the fall and began a treatment plan that included chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. He now lives cancer-free and advises residents to check unusual symptoms early (he recently celebrated his daughter’s wedding as a fresh start). Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic physiatrist Dr. Christopher Ng is now offering iovera, a non-surgical, drug-free treatment that uses precision cold therapy — which blocks nerves to ease long-lasting pain. The FDA-cleared option is for osteoarthritis of the knee and may help patients avoid opioids by providing relief in about 30 minutes. Envision Greater FDL

- ➤ Marian University women’s basketball (0-3) ended its Midway Classic weekend with an 84-51 loss to Tufts. The Sabres tied early but never led the contest. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Marian University women’s ice hockey earned its first win over a ranked team by beating No.6 St. Norbert 2 to 1 in overtime—Olivia Church-Sowinski scored on a power play in the second period and Ella Spies scored 30 seconds into overtime, marking the school’s first win over St. Norbert since the 2018/19 season. - ➤ Marian University's Sabres lost 5 to 1 to St. Norbert in NCAA men's hockey. St. Norbert scored early and built a lead with 49 shots to 16—extending their winning streak to nine games. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Marian University NCAA men’s hockey (0-5-1) lost 6-2 to nationally ranked St. Norbert as the Green Knights built an early lead and finished the game with an empty-net goal while Marian struggled on special teams. Envision Greater FDL
- ➤ Marian University women’s bowling team finished eighth at the Bearcat Invite—posting 4,727 pins—and placed second at the UWO Titan Invite after upsetting top-seeded Wisconsin.
