COMMUNITY NEWS

  • SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital Auxiliary has launched its 38th annual Lights of Love program that lets donors honor friends, family or staff with a $5 donation to purchase lights, with colored bulbs for those living and white bulbs for those remembered. Proceeds will fund a new automation system at the hospital front entrance and the holiday tree will be lit on December 11 + donation forms are available at the hospital information desk.  Envision Greater FDL
  • SSM Health donated $50,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County’s capital campaign — the funds will help pay for a new facility at 987 S. Main Street and expand mentoring programs. The donation was presented on November 21 by SSM Health leaders and will support the organization in serving more local children.  KFIZ
  • Local organizations must submit their entries for the KFIZ Christmas Parade by today to avoid a $25 late fee—late submissions will incur the fee—and the parade, themed Merry Minecraft Christmas, will be held in downtown Fond du Lac on December 6.  KFIZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Marian University held a ribbon-cutting on November 19 for its new Radiologic Technology Suite at its Fond du Lac campus, improving hands-on training for future imaging experts. The suite was built with $1.049 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Education—led by Senator Tammy Baldwin—while building on its long-term partnership with a local hospital.  Envision Greater FDL

  • National Exchange Bank and Trust was named on the Forbes list of America’s Best-In-State Banks 2025 and ranked as the top bank in Wisconsin—more than 26,000 customers rated its trust, service, and digital tools, and the bank has served the community since 1933.  Envision Greater FDL

HEALTH NEWS

  • ThedaCare is hosting the Resolve Through Sharing Candlelight Memorial Service to comfort families who have experienced infant loss from miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or neonatal death. The event will be held at Best Western Bridgewood Resort and Conference Center in Neenah on Wednesday, Dec. 10 (doors open at 6:15 p.m.) and will feature a reflection speaker, a candle lighting ceremony and support handouts along with a rose and an angel ornament for each family.  KFIZ
  • Wisconsin health officials said on November 21 that the CDC’s revised message linking vaccines with autism spreads false information and risks public safety—citing a solid body of research that shows no connection between vaccines and autism. The department stressed that families deserve accurate, evidence-based facts to protect children.  FDL Reporter

  • Marian women’s hockey opened the series with a 4-1 win at Dubuque—junior Catherine Yasenak and junior Olivia Church scored key goals as the team improved its record against the Spartans.  Envision Greater FDL
  • Today marks the start of Wisconsin’s nine-day gun deer hunting season—running until November 30. Hunters must have a valid license and wear at least 50% blaze orange or pink above the waist to follow safety rules.  KFIZ
  • Marian University men’s hockey scored first with a goal by junior Nolan Flint but fell 4-1 to Dubuque as their second period collapsed; Dubuque tied at 1:31 in the second period and then scored two more times — marking their first win over Marian in six meetings.  Envision Greater FDL
