The Brownsville Fire Company received a $2,500 gift from Compeer Home in honor of National Heroes Day—this donation will help cover needed equipment costs and fund plans for a new fire station.

Yesterday morning at Wittmann Regional Airport, fire trucks responded to reports of flames from Fifi’s engine (a stack fire that is normal during start-up), but by the time crews arrived the fire was out and the plane sustained no damage.
On July 24, 2025, a man in a mental health crisis sat on the outer ledge of the bridge over Highway 151 with his feet dangling while law enforcement tried to talk him down—he cut himself with a knife, took medications, and was later taken into custody and transported to hospital as South Main Street and Highway 151 were closed for the incident.
Governor Tony Evers is not seeking re-election in 2026—this change creates an open race for a governor’s office that has had a sitting governor in nearly a decade.
